As of now, the Redmi Note 8 starts from RM599 for the 4GB+64GB model, while the 4GB+128GB variant will retail for RM699. As for the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the phone with the 64MP main shooter will now retail for RM899. Bear in mind, the phone is only available in a 6GB+128GB variant for our market. To quickly recap, the Redmi Note 8 was announced back in October last year, alongside the big brother Redmi Note 8 Pro. Specs-wise, the phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, up to 4GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. It also sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ notched display. The notch housing a 13MP selfie camera.
Around the back, the Redmi Note 8 sports a quad-camera module, comprising a 48MP ISOCELL GM1 main shooter from Samsung, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. Powering it all is a 4000mAh battery. Moving on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, this mid-range device is one of the few devices to ship out with MediaTek’s Helio Helio G90T SoC and a large 6.53-inch Dot Drop Full HD+ display. As mentioned earlier, it runs on 6GB LPDDR4X RAM, and has 128GB of UFS 2.1 expandable storage. What really sets the Redmi Note 8 Pro apart from the non-Pro variant is its main camera at the back. It’s still a quad-camera setup, but instead of a 48MP sensor, it main shooter is a 64MP ISOCELL GW1 sensor, also the courtesy of Samsung. It should be noted that the Redmi Note 8 Pro’s new price tag is the same as the recently launched Redmi Note 9S, which we also reviewed back in April. The obvious differences between the two phones are their chipsets and camera; while the Redmi Note 8 Pro is rocking the Helio G90T and 64MP main shooter, the Redmi Note 9S is fitted with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G and a 48MP main shooter that, surprisingly, isn’t made by Samsung. Both the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are already available at all official Xiaomi stores and authorised resellers. (Source: Xiaomi via Facebook)
