Sandip Adhikari, Deputy Director of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, said that the ban was ordered because it is “addictive to children and teenagers”. Internet service providers, mobile operators and network service providers were all directed to block the streaming of the game.
Adhikari also said that so far there has yet to be any reports of incidents linked to PUBG. He also said that parents were concerned about their children being distracted from their studies. Which sounds a bit odd, especially when the game was banned on the grounds of it being violent. Video games have once again been under fire as of late, especially the those of the battle royale genre. Last weekend, British royalty, Prince Harry, called for the banning of Fortnite, PUBG’s main rival, saying that the game was “created to addict” and “irresponsible”. (Source: Reuters)
