Just like the Surface Laptop 3, the new Surface Laptop Go is a traditional clamshell-style laptop. However, the new model has a more compact footprint as it is equipped with a smaller 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen display that also has 3:2 aspect ratio and a native resolution of 1536 x 1024. Unlike its higher-end sibling though, the Surface Laptop Go’s chassis is not fully made from aluminium though. Instead, only the top part is made from aluminium while its base was crafted from polycarbonate composite resin. Even though the model is focused on portability just like Surface Go 2, the Surface Laptop Go has more firepower though since it is equipped with Intel Core i5-1035G1. Given that Intel has just launched 11th Gen Intel Core processors last month, this might not bode well with users that prefer to have laptops with the latest specs.
The new model can be obtained with up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM alongside up to 64GB eMMC storage or 256GB solid state drive. With a battery life of up to 13 hours, Microsoft also stated that the trackpad on Surface Laptop Go is made from glass while its backlit keyboard offers 1.3mm key travel. Price-wise, the model with 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC goes for USD 549.99 (~RM 2,286) while the variants with 128GB and 256GB SSD which also have 8GB of RAM each are listed at USD 699.99 (~RM 2,909) and USD 899.99 (~RM 3,740), respectively. For now, there are no words from Microsoft if the Surface Laptop Go will make its way to Malaysia anytime soon.
